An IONIQ is a combination of the words “ion” and “unique.” Skateboard Platform E-GMP – Electric Global Modular Platform – will be used to build the vehicle under the company’s “Beyond Mobility” initiative, while its interiors have been developed utilising a variety of eco-friendly materials to boost the company’s efforts to promote sustainability.
Hyundai Ioniq 5 – Specs
Following in the footsteps of the Kona EV, Hyundai has released the Ioniq 5. For the rear of the vehicle are LED tail lights in a rectangular form as well as an LED U-shaped lighting system. Along with the shark fin antenna and the 20-inch wheels and 20-inch wheels it receives a rear-raked glass spoiler.
The interiors are large and uncluttered, in keeping with the Sensuous Sportiness attitude of the company. A HUD, dual 12-inch displays with BlueLink connection, and eco-friendly seats and other interior components are just some of the high-end amenities included in the car’s luxurious interior.
With a 72.6 kWh battery pack, Hyundai’s Ioniq 5 is available. For a maximum range of 481 kilometres, the 72.6 kWh battery has a range of 385 kilometres. Electric power is provided by a 217-hp, 350-pound-foot rear-axle motor in the vehicle’s 2WD configuration. Two electric motors, one for each axle, provide 305 horsepower and 605 pound-feet of torque in the AWD model.
The Hyundai Ioniq 5 is most likely to be offered as a completely knocked-down vehicle (CKD). That means it will be put together at a facility outside of Chennai, where they already have a manufacturing facility. The car is likely to go on sale in October 2022, and production might begin as soon as late September. It is estimated to cost between Rs 35-45 lakhs ex-showroom. In India, Hyundai is also preparing to introduce a compact electric SUV.
Hyundai Ioniq 5 – EV Motor, Power, and Performance
The Hyundai Ioniq 5 features a battery-only drivetrain with a range of outputs. An electric rear-mounted motor and a standard-range battery combine for 168 horsepower.
225 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque are generated by the rear-drive version with the longer-range battery, and Hyundai claims that this combination can accelerate the Ioniq 5 to 60 mph in 7.4 seconds.
The all-wheel-drive model has 320 horsepower and a huge 446 pound-feet of torque, and it’s also faster. At our test track, it accelerated to 60 mph in 4.5 seconds.
The Ioniq 5’s low centre of gravity and broad for an EV tyres made it seem dynamic while swerving side to side. It was a pleasure to drive. However, we would like to see greater input from the steering and a stiffer suspension.
Hyundai Ioniq 5 – Interior, Comfort, and Cargo
The Ioniq 5’s cabin isn’t as artistic as the one shown off by the Hyundai 45 Concept, but it does have a digital dashboard and plenty of environmentally friendly materials. The ability to cast navigation instructions onto the windshield via a head-up display and augmented reality is just one of the car’s many futuristic features.
As a result, the tiny crossover has a totally flat floor to maximise both passenger and luggage capacity. While the Ioniq is charging, passengers may recline the front seats and use the footrests.
The 5’s wheelbase is longer than that of the three-row Hyundai Palisade, resulting in more accommodation for passengers in the front and back seats. There’s a lot of storage space in the wide centre console that moves back and forth between the front seats in the Limited grades.
Hyundai Ioniq 5 – Range, Charging, and Battery Life
The Hyundai Ioniq 5 is expected to have a range of 220 miles when using the standard 58.0-kWh battery pack. Its bigger 77.4-kWh battery pack can go 256 miles with two motors and 303 miles with one. By using a DC fast charger, the bigger battery can be charged from 10% to 80% in approximately 18 minutes or 68 miles in around five minutes.
Conclusion
The Hyundai IONIQ 5 boasts a beautiful design, a driving range of about 300 miles, the ability to charge quickly if you can find a 350 kW charger, plenty of space, and in four-wheel drive form, it’s quick and has superb grip. It’s also one of the most cost-effective electric vehicles in its class.
