Peanuts contain protein and many essential nutrients that the human body needs. You will be surprised after knowing the advantage of peanuts but eating too many nuts are bad for your health. Eating too many peanuts harms your body.

Consuming too many peanuts can cause fat content to cholesterol problems. However, if you are eating a limited quantity of peanuts, it is very helpful for your body. First, let’s talk about the disadvantages of peanuts.

1- Increasing of weight 

If you are trying to lose weight, then consuming peanuts can be harmful to you. Because according to sources consuming more peanuts increases weight.

Peanut has high calories that contribute to our body weight. Eating a handful of peanuts will give you 170 calories, which is a huge number if you are an adult. So if you are someone who is on a diet, then avoiding peanuts is best for you.

2. Allergic side effect

If you are consuming too many peanuts, it can cause an allergy in you. Peanut protein is considered bad for your immune system. Even with a small amount, peanuts can bring harmful results.

This allergy to peanuts includes symptoms like runny nose, skin reactions such as itching, redness, Tightening of the throat, etc. Eating too many peanuts can affect your health badly. So cause allergy is one of the disadvantages of peanuts.

3. Sodium increase 

You also have to consider sodium when consuming peanuts. Sometimes we eat salted peanuts which are common but eating these peanuts can affect your blood pressure.

One ounce of peanuts has 219 milligrams of sodium, and a normal human body needs 2,300 milligrams of sodium. Also, your consuming sodium balance the fluid that you take with the food. So, according to some reports consuming more sodium can be very harmful to your body, so take the intake properly. This is also considered as a main disadvantage of peanuts.

4. Imbalance of omega fatty acid

One ounce of peanuts contains around 4,361 milligrams of omega fatty acid. Omega fatty acid is one of the main requirements of the human body. Therefore, the correct balance of omega 3 and omega 6 can benefit your body.

But peanuts don’t contain omega 3 acids. In this way, the quantity of omega 6 increases in the body when you eat too many peanuts, creating problems like obesity and heart disease.

According to a 2016 report, omega 6 play an important role in obesity. The high level of omega 6 can cause insulin resistance and weight gain. So the imbalance of omega 6 and omega 3 is the biggest disadvantage of peanuts.

5. Inhibits Mineral Absorption

Peanuts are also a source of phosphorus. One ounce of peanuts contains around 113 milligrams of phosphorus which can fulfil your body’s phosphorus requirement. But phosphorus in peanuts contains another form called phytic acid

Phytic acid is known as body anties nutrients because they chelate with other minerals. You can balance this by eating a proper diet daily. However, eating too many peanuts can cause problems, so take your intake carefully.

6. To much-saturated fat

If you are eating too many peanuts, you must be in danger because it has saturated fat contents. And high levels of saturated fat can cause problems like heart attack, stroke, and high blood pressure.

You can reduce your chance of heart problems by reducing the saturated fat in meals. So if you are someone who is consuming too many peanuts, then it is time to leave them.
