Valley of Flowers is located in the region of Uttarakhand. Valley of Flowers Trek starts from Govindghat or Joshimath. There is a lot of transportation available to reach Joshimath which is well-connected to all the major cities and towns of Uttarakhand.

By Road: To reach Joshimath or Govind Ghat you need to catch a direct bus from Delhi and reach Dehradun. From Dehradun, you can get on a local bus or hire a private taxi to reach Joshimath or Govindghat. 

By Rail: Dehradun railway station is the nearest railway station to reach the Valley of Flowers. Dehradun railway station is well-connected with all the major railway stations of India. Upon reaching here, you can catch a local bus or a taxi to reach Joshimath which is 293 km or Govindghat which is 310km.

By Air: The Jolly Grant airport in Dehradun is the nearest to the Valley of Flowers. It is well-connected with all the major airports of India. From there, you can reach Joshimath or Govind Ghat via road.

Travel Tips:

  • Harm no animals and plants.
  • Do not make fun of the local culture and traditions.
  • Experienced trekkers can do this trek a bit quickly as compared to beginners as the pathway has some sharp climbs and tricky paths.
  • Pack your clothes irrespective of the season. Carry an extra pair of clothes as rains hit the area very frequently.
  • The mobile network disappears after Govindghat. It is good to inform your family prior to the trek.
  • Always carry ID proof and travel tickets.
  • If you are traveling in a group, do not wander alone in the valley as there are a lot of dangerous animals.
  • If you are traveling alone, do not walk on unmarked pathways.
  • Do not litter here and there.  Do not spoil the meadows by garbage. Keep the surroundings clean and green.

  • A good quality Backpack and rain cover
  • Trekking pole- must bring
  • Torch and flashlights with extra batteries
  • Water bottle (2 to 3 liters)
  • Snacks, energy bars, and protein bars and munching bars like chips and chikki
  • Personal medical kit including pain reliever and water purification tablets
  • Hydration pack
  • Sunglasses, Sun cap, Lip balm, Moisturizer, toothbrush, toothpaste and a small bottle of shampoo.
  • ID proof
  • Essential toiletries
  • 2 to 3 pairs of Socks and Hand gloves (woolen and synthetic)
  • Disposable bags and an extra bag to keep the wet clothes
