The numerous types of sports that we see today have been with us for thousands of years.

The first ever Olympic games made an impact on the world back in 776 BC in Athens, Greece, and has remained big till this day. Athletes still compete for solo or in teams to win a medal. 

There are sports that are still as popular today as they were back then – bats and balls were usually used in sports then, and they are still used. Cricket, Softball and Baseball were among the most common games played. Today, we see many more sports such as Rugby, American Football, Soccer, and many more.

With the digital presence these days, we have access to every sport available at any time. You may be searching for tickets to the Soccer game this weekend for you and your kids. Or checking the scores and players for your basketball fantasy league bet you have going with your friends. 

Sports is a way of life

For decades, sports has been a hobby and pastime for many people. Unless you’re training for a spot in the university team and seeking a career out of playing a sport, leisure is the most common reason most people engage in sport.

Many sports today are played by people of all ages, both men and women, as it’s been proven to have many benefits other than entertainment. Health is one of the main benefits of sports, and exercise has a powerful effect on the body and mind. Exercise is known to release stress and improve overall health. A healthy mind and body in turn, impacts all areas of your life.

A sport that is often overlooked is Golf, with its repetitive, slow and maybe, boring course. Or swimming that many people assume is difficult, but actually is a lot of fun. Swimming has  rewarding health benefits to the body and mind, and is as enjoyable as any other sport.

There are countless sports that are being created and reinvented as we speak. Many people are making their health and wellbeing a priority compared to the past. Many who were not interested in any sport in the past, are joining community teams, hiring personal coaches or joining colleagues for a game of sport..
